Qughish

Rain Darwysh enjoyed the heavy rains that fell over the dense forests of Wilgen Castle. She had come from a much warmer, arid castle and the view of all that glorious rain made her feel happy. And wouldn't it be fun to get the aspirants to come running through that deluge? She felt it would and so she launched her call. When the aspirants arrived, soaked and dripping, she let her draklings do the rest of the work.
Water Qughish looked at the assembled aspirants but decided none of them were right for her. She turned to her mother and said:
"I want to stay at the Castle. It's nice here."
"Very well." Darwysh acknowledged.
It would also mean that she'd be able to stay here a little longer as well.

Stepga

Day Xulep felt the sun rise to it's zenith. Even in the deep cavern she could feel the temperature rise. The day was hot and the air was dry. But her draklings were ready to pair and she was positive that they would find a good match. When she entered the hall from the deep cavern, she looked over the assembled and decided that there were enough aspirants to give her draklings ample choice. She called out their names one by one and let them mingle with the others to make their choice.
Desert Stepga was the only one who remained close to her.
"I think I want to stay with you a little longer." he said.
"All right."

MIND PAIRING
It was a few years later when Desert Stepga arrived at Wilgen Castle on a training mission. He carried supplies and was just meant to deliver them. Not a spectacular mission by any means, but it was his first solo mission and it felt like an important milestone. Stepga arrived by portal and landed without a hitch. Without a knight he'd need to find a local to help him unstrap.
Looking around there were plenty of people hovering about, but how could you trust one? He'd heard stories of bandits and thieves.
Which was why the desert drak looked relieved when he was approached by water Qughish who'd stayed at Wilgen even after she'd become old enough to move to another castle. Her mother had returned to her duties over at Castle DesCas although she occasionally visited on errands of her own. And Qughish was always willing to make a quick trip to DesCas.
"Hello." Qughish said friendly, "Are you in need of assistance?"
Stepga greeted the fellow drak and nodded:
"I need to deliver these packages but I wouldn't know to whom."
"I know." Qughish smiled, "I'm one of the knights here. It's a small castle so I know everyone."
Small was an understatement. Tiny would have been more on the mark but Wilgen did a lot with the available knights and they preferred to remain unattached. A lot of the solitary draks in the surroundings helped.
"Thank you." Stepga answered, "I was a bit lost there and this is my first time delivering so I want to do a good job."
"I can relate." Qughish nodded.
There was something about the desert drak that made her want to know him better though.
"Are you free for the rest of the day or do you need to leave right away?"
"I guess I can stay a bit longer." Stepga hinted.
"Want a tour?"
The tour became an open invite to join the armada of Wilgen Castle and a tentative promise to spend more time together to see where things would go.

Qughish hatched at Wilgen Castle
Stepga hatched at Savannah Castle
