HATCHING

Famine watched as Aray fastened her horse 'Twinky' -such an unusual name- in a box. Twinky apparently wasn't too happy about it. Famine almost felt like pulling out a huge handkerchief and sarcastically snorting his nose loudly when he saw the little display of attachment to the horse.
In stead he moved quietly closer and said: "What is taking you so long?"
"Saying goodbye."
"Aray, I swear, I never thought you were sentimental."
"Have you gotten rid of your horse yet?"
"No." Embarassing as it was to admit, he couldn't say goodbye to his own black horse 'Saturn Shadow' either.
"It just wouldn't be the same. Horsemen is a title that sounds right." Aray said.
"Then keep her! I'm not so sure we are supposed to ride these hydras."
That was true. He really didn't know what they could expect from these dragons. Famine's thoughts were interrupted by a cough. He turned and so did Aray. A boy, maybe 15 years old, blond, small and looking good.
"What is it?" she snarled.
"The hatching... ma'am. It has started."
"Since you bring good news I won't punish you."
The boy tried to hide a sigh of relief when he heard those words. Famine smiled and partly closed his eyes. He tripped the balances of his scale.
"I will." said Famine.
The young boy fled out in terror.
"What did you give him?"
"The worst scare in his life."
"What no disease?"
Famine's face pulled into a grimace. Aray was right. There was a time, before the lock up when he would have brought down the stables around them just to kill the boy. Or opened up the ground below him so the burning flames of hell could swallow him whole. Drats! His power had been unused for too long.
Annoyed he strode out, feeling Aray following him. He'd have to do a better job of evilness if he wanted to remain in her grace.
Inside the hatching cavern people and candidates had gathered. One by one the eggs hatched and bonded. Neither of the dragons glanced at him. In the end, he, Aray and another candidate were waiting last. The next egg hatched and Famine saw a big red beast coming out of it. Good, Aray would do her little revolt. Ducking away in the shadows Famine smiled.
The next egg hatched and the dragon inside claimed the other candidate. Finally the last egg hatched and a small black-green-red dragon emerged.
"You took forever Embrassen!" Famine exclaimed, not a bit surprised he knew the dragons name. He had known for quite some time. Carefully he inspected his dragon. No Hydra like Aray, but in good health and in one piece. However the hatchling was small. Not something you would win wars with. Sting operations, ambushes, yes. Wars, no.
"You'll have to do." Famine said.
"I'm all you need." Embrassen said, his eyes blood red circles in a murky back-ground

BIPEDRA FLIGHT AT CY DRAGONSTAKE

Famine looked up from his chemistry set when Aray entered. In doing so he clumsily tossed a jar of bubbling green liquid to the floor.
"Damned Aray! That was a new kind of pestilence!"
"Agas is the one that kills, you just bring bad luck."
"The plague is bad luck. Especially this one."
"We're leaving." Aray said, cutting to the chase. She had never been very patient.
"Where to? It is a little early to go back"
Famine looked envious at the large hydra that stood behind Aray. His little Embrassen had grown, but he was still small. Small had his advantages,
"The Bipedra Flight at Cy. Satan won't know where we are and we can practice."
"Satan always knows where we are."
"What do you mean by that?" Aray's eyes flickered red.
"Well duh... he is the supreme overlord of evilness." Famine said absentminded, "Should I place this room under quarantine?"
"You might."
"Are you coming?"
"Yeah, let me get my things."
Famine carefully packed. He had to follow Aray. Satan had grown softer over the years. Every time Famine had asked for hunger in one of those large new cities Satan had gone: "No. I can't use those powers if I want to remain secretive."
At least Aray would have let him. If she revolted and they won -which wouldn't be hard considereing Agas was a loony and she could be persuaded to leave the man she loved just to feel the pain- Famine would become Aray's adviser... and soon after he would be the one ruling. If he could get rid of Bladion.
