Weyrling
Kekoath flexed his wings and flew. He'd gotten the hang of it quite nicely. He was a bit on the heavy side, but the size of his wings could take that extra weight. Flying was without a doubt the thing Kekoath enjoyed most. The freedom of the sky, no roads, no forests, no rivers, no mountains, just sky. he could go everywhere, reach everything he saw in the blink of an eye.
Strangely he felt connected with everything when he was flying. Like maybe there was some substance that flew around him and everyone else in the universe.
How wonderful it would be when there was something that connected him to his bond. For if there was he would be able to follow it if he just looked hard enough.
Usually when Kekoath dreamed about his lifemate he was gone for hours, blisfully imagining just who could be his soulmate. But not today. Today his mind turned toward the heavier stuff he could not ignore any longer. He'd barely managed to master flying and breathing fire and now his home was about to cease to exist. Calyeni was disbanding and though some technically the place wouldn't stop to exist, it wouldn't be the same anymore either.
kekoath sighed. He didn't really feel like staying, but where else could he go? Without noticing he was flying further and further, higher and higher toward the setting sun until he finally found himself flying between a dusk-touched skies that revealed the first few stars.
It was hard to breath because of the altitude, but Kekoath somehow felt the lack of oxygen made his mind clear for a single moment. Stars! Stars connected everyone! Everyone could see them. One only needed to venture through them to get to new worlds, to new places, to new people. If his bond wasn't here, then he should just leave. Enlightened, he flew back toward Calyeni, intending to leave in a matter of days.

Nervously hopping from one foot on the next, Kekoath flapped his wings, still doubting whether he should really take off to the stars or if he should stay a little longer in his safe haven. Calyeni was all that he knew. Gathering all of his determination kekoath finally thrust his body foreward, falling off the heights of Calyeni.
I'll never leave if I don't do it now. he told himself.
With one last circle around Calyeni, Kekoath said goodbye before he set course to the first place on his list of star coordinates. There was no need looking back. he would carry Calyeni with him wherever he went.
